Risk of storms increases in the Lowcountry later this week

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – Hurricane Francine is expected to make landfall near New Orleans most likely Wednesday afternoon, Storm Team 2 says it will have no direct impact on the Lowcountry’s weather.

Skies are expected to be mostly cloudy and breezy with winds up to 10-20 mph. Temperatures are expected to be in the low 80s on Wednesday.

Storm Team 2 says showers will begin to develop on Friday.

“All these showers and thunderstorms out here over the Atlantic waters – well those are going to move on shore, we’re going to see some pretty decent coverage of showers Friday into Saturday and even into Sunday,” said meteorologist Josh Marthers

Marthers adds that he does not believe the storm off the coast of the Atlantic will be truly tropical at this point but it will be developing into something to give the Lowcountry an enhanced chance of rain late Sunday into Monday.

“The unsettled weather pattern continues, remember that’s the price we have to pay to get a break from the heat this time of year, typically it does get unsettled,” said Marthers.
