Tropical Storm Warning issued along South Carolina coast as disturbance shows signs of strengthening
CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – The National Hurricane Center began issuing advisories Sunday on “Potential Tropical Cyclone Eight,” which is located off the South Carolina coast.
A tropical storm warning is active from Edisto Beach to Ocracoke Inlet, North Carolina.
It comes as a disturbance the NHC has been monitoring off of the southeastern United States is expected to strengthen some. Forecasters say it will likely reach the coast somewhere within the warning area on Monday.
WHAT TO EXPECT:
Storm Team 2 meteorologists say there are no major adjustments to our forecast right now. We still expect bands of rain, wind gusts near 40 mph, rip currents, and minor to moderate coastal flooding through Tuesday.
The disturbance is located about 125 miles east southeast of Charleston and moving northwest at 7 mph. Maximum sustained winds are at 45 mph.
