Vehicle pulled from Isle of Palms Marina after elderly couple rescued
ISLE OF PALMS, S.C. (WCBD) – An elderly couple was rescued Saturday night after accidentally driving their vehicle into the water at the Isle of Palms Marina.
Both the driver and passenger were rescued by a bystander before first responders arrived. No injuries were reported.
According to Sgt. Matthew Storen of the IOPPD, a dive team is on the scene, along with the U.S. Coast Guard, to assist in the removal of the vehicle.
The Isle of Palms Police Department (IOPPD) posted a notice on X (formerly Twitter) that referenced the incident, stating, “Due to an earlier incident at The Isle of Palms Marina, the boat ramp at the marina will be closed until further notice. IOPPD is in contact with the Dockmaster and will provide an update when the ramp is reopened.”
The boat ramp remains closed, and further updates will be provided by the Isle of Palms Police Department.
