Severe weather prompts changes to school schedules

CHARLESTON COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – Multiple school districts across the Lowcountry canceled classes Monday due to a threat of severe weather.

The Charleston County School District will shift to an eLearning day for students. Teachers or schools will provide information about the day’s learning plan.

Kaleidoscope and all other extracurricular activities and afterschool programs scheduled for Monday are canceled.

Georgetown County schools are also closed Monday. Students will have an eLearning day on October 7.

Williamsburg County schools will not be open for students; however staff should report to work if they are able.

This is due to potential impacts from a tropical system that is expected to make landfall north of Charleston on Monday.

Forecasters say periods of rainfall, gusty winds, and flooding are likely.
