Tami Roman Dishes on Unfaithful’s New Season
The new season of “Unfaithful Caught in the Act” with popular host premieres Tuesday, Sept. 19th at 9pm on MTV.
Tami chopped it up with radio/TV personality Jazmyn Summers about the series. “Its explosive and unpredictable,” she says but the ultimate goal is healing.
The show follows suspected cheaters and if infidelity is found, the victims are given a pivotal choice: they can team up with the other lover, or ambush both the partner and their lover together.
“People are willing to sit down and have real conversations,” Roman shares. People are very open and honest and when you find out that someone really is cheating, people are angry, people are hurt, people are sad, and we are able to work through those things with the relationship expert and the therapist that we have on the sidelines.”
“We’ve got some crazy episodes,” she reveals. “One of the most surprising ones this next season is with twins.”
The fan-favorite series is filled with captivating twists and emotional confrontations that Roman has no problem getting in the middle of.
“Every single person was familiar with who I was, in the last season so they have a certain level of respect for me,” Roman says. “I’m not afraid. We provide these suspicious lovers with the information that they need – the receipts, the knowledge that they are asking for. It makes it very easy,”
Roman tells Radio One that her own experience of being cheated on gives her insight into what the couples are going through.
“I’ve had a lot of relationships where I was cheated on,” she discloses. “One of the most painful was with my ex-husband Kenny Anderson. “I knew something was going on, I could just feel it. I called his hotel room multiple times but there was no answer. Finally, the front desk transferred me to another room and a woman answered I asked for my husband and she put him right on the phone.”

That wasn’t the only time, and she eventually left him though initially it left her almost penniless because of a prenuptial agreement. My girl got paid though after the couple finally settled for a reported $30 million dollars.
And then she found true love with Reggie Youngblood, 17 years her junior.
“We’re very honest with each other. From the minute we met each other it’s just been real genuine conversations and being like brutally honest with each other. He lets me know what he don’t like. I let him know what I don’t like and then we make a decision to either change or work through it. And we have a good time together. We’re each other’s best friends and there’s no secrets.”
Tami gushes over her love with Reggie and says she’s never experienced a relationship where her man has been able to help her through her emotional issues.
“I always wanted when I love someone for them to love you unconditionally. And Reggie has exuded so much patience with me over the seven years we’ve been together. I use this analogy of everybody’s always in line at the baggage claim, waiting to pick their stuff up and take it to the next situation. We just keep bringing that baggage from destination to destination. And so I was that girl. And Reggie did not tell me that he was gonna be present and help me through my stuff. He showed me.”
She says any rumors of infidelity are absolutely not true. They have overcome a lot including him initially wanting a child.
“Knowing that he hadn’t had any children, and I have two beautiful daughters. I really wanted to be able to give that to him, myself, not with a surrogate,” And that’s why I kept trying. Ultimately, the doctors were like, because of my age and my diabetes and health reasons, it just wouldn’t be healthy for me to keep doing it. So we froze the eggs and we were looking for a surrogate and then I got busy and I couldn’t be a part of that process. I wanted him to take the time to go and invest in that, to pick the right person, to put my eggs over there and let that person be the person. And he ultimately said, no, I don’t wanna do any of that. If it’s not you, then I’m good which is another testament to him.”
Tami has also struggled with body dysmorphia since she was 13 years old.
“Every day is still a challenge. Someone else might get up and stand naked in front of the mirror and go, oh my goodness like I could pinch (some fat) right here and then go on about their business. But if I can pinch, that becomes a whole mission of like, I’ve gotta lose it. People have seen my weight fluctuate up and down, heavier, thinner. Even on “Unfaithful” you’ll see me heavy and then thin again. It’s an obsession for me.”
The illness began with her dream of being a model.
“When I was 13, I was trying to model and I went to an agency and I thought I was perfect. I was thin. I was tall and that lady basically annihilated my self-esteem. That’s why I got my mouth wired shut and I was already thin. I left that, open-call audition saying I’ve just gotta get skinnier. I started abusing laxatives, I started not eating, I started throwing up, I started doing everything that I could think of to be as skinny as I could possibly be when I was already skinny.”
She got so thin, she reveals she felt like she needed plastic surgery, “I did do my butt,” she divulges. “There was nothing there. It’s like you’re always in search of what perfection is to you as you see yourself. That’s what the disorder is.”
Roman is killing it on TV with four current hit shows besides “Unfaithful” she also stars in the “Family Business”, “Haus of Vicious”, and the “Ms. Pat Show”.
