Two arrested for drug and property crimes in Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office parking lot

GEORGETOWN COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – Georgetown County Sheriff Carter Weaver announced Monday the arrest of two Connecticut residents on drug and property crime charges after they were caught in the Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office parking lot.

Deputies observed Amanda Jean Williams, 39, and Kirk Frew, 55, attempting to ingest illegal drugs in their vehicle outside the sheriff’s office on Monday afternoon.

A search of the vehicle uncovered suspected methamphetamine and a large quantity of copper wire, some of which had already been stripped for sale.

Additionally, the vehicle’s license plate was determined to be stolen from Virginia, and deputies recovered a South Carolina tag, the status of which is still under investigation.

The two suspects claimed they were at the Sheriff’s Office to meet a third party who had offered to assist them in obtaining a permit to haul metals.

Williams and Frew are facing charges of possession of methamphetamine, transport of non-ferrous metals, and possession of a stolen license plate.

Further charges may be pending as the investigation continues.
