Home ownership isn’t an easy task. However, the rewards that can come from building a place of your own that the whole family can create lasting memories in for generations to come is quite literally the investment of a lifetime.

We recently got a first-hand recollection on the joys of homebuilding from Kyra Epps, the stunningly beautiful wife of fan-favorite Hollywood comedic actor Mike Epps. You may have caught the power couple last year on their HGTV reality series Buying Back The Block, which saw the Next Friday star purchasing homes in the neighborhood where he grew up in Indianapolis with hopes of rebuilding the sense of community that helped structure his rise to fame.

This year, Kyra decided to take things a step further by partnering with Habitat For Humanity with a mission to spread the knowledge in her own home city of Chicago.

Acting as one of the newest Community Impact Partners over at Habitat For Humanity Chicago, Kyra Epps is spreading her knowledge of building homes from the experience on HGTV in addition to being a career mom with two toddlers and a superstar husband. Thankfully she has a lot to share, whether it be the importance of choosing a good contractor, staying up on the tedious task of cleaning air filters or how the Black community specifically can build generational wealth in the process. For those in and around the Chi-Town area on October 5, she’ll also be hosting a three-part course on how to turn a house into a home at the grand opening of Habitat for Humanity ReStore Chicago — 63rd and Western!
