Colleton County schools adjust schedule due to severe weather threat

COLLETON COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – The Colleton County School District announced Wednesday a schedule change due to severe weather associated with Hurricane Helene.

The district will implement early dismissal for all schools on Thursday, September 25 because of the potential for rainfall, high wind gusts, and the threat of isolated tornadoes and hazardous road conditions.

“Our top priority is the safety of our students, staff, and their families,” the district said. “Our goal is to provide a secure and supportive learning environment, even in times of emergency.”

All extra-curricular activities and athletic events have been canceled.

The district will implement a delayed start for students and staff on Friday.
