Charleston Police assist Hurricane Helene victims in Henderson County

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – In the wake of Hurricane Helene, the Charleston Police Department (CPD) has stepped in to support relief efforts for the hard-hit communities in Henderson County, North Carolina.

On Tuesday, 13 CPD officers traveled to the area to assist their counterparts at the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office, many of whom have been working around the clock since the hurricane made landfall.

The officers have been stationed near Chimney Rock, a region severely impacted by the storm. Their mission is to help maintain public safety, assist with law enforcement operations, and provide relief to the local responders who have been on duty nonstop.

In a post on X, CPD expressed gratitude to Coastal Crisis Chaplaincy for their words of encouragement to the officers as they embarked on their mission.

CPD’s involvement in the recovery efforts not only brings much-needed manpower but also a sense of hope and solidarity for those continuing to battle the aftermath of the storm.

The outpouring of support from both Western North Carolina and Upstate South Carolina has been immense, as recovery and rebuilding efforts push forward. CPD encourages the public to keep those affected by Hurricane Helene in their thoughts as the community works together to rebuild.
