Student arrested after school shooting threat at Colleton County High
COLLETON COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – A 15-year-old student at Colleton County High School has been arrested after allegedly making a threat of a school shooting.
The Colleton County Sheriff’s Office was notified on Monday about a disturbing message discovered on a school bathroom wall, indicating a possible shooting on Tuesday, October 8. Rumors about the threat also circulated on social media.
In response to the threat, additional security personnel were stationed at the school as a precaution to ensure the safety of students and staff.
After the Criminal Investigation Division investigated, a 10th-grade student was identified as the suspect.
He has been expelled from the school and is facing charges under South Carolina law SC 16-17-425, which deals with student threats.
The student has been taken into custody and transported to the Department of Juvenile Justice in Columbia.
The Colleton County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the incident.
