Deputies arrest man in College Park Road armed robbery investigation

BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – Authorities arrested a man who they said robbed a College Park Road convenience store early Thursday morning.

Deputies with the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office responded to a Circle K just before 4:30 a.m. and met with a cashier who claimed she was robbed by a man wearing a ski mask. The man left on a bicycle with $300.

K-9 deputies were called in to help track the suspect.

The sheriff’s office said deputies tracked the stolen money to an address on Berkeley Farms Road where the suspect’s bike was located.

Deputies also found a currency electronic tracker, a black sweatshirt with a hood, a black airsoft gun, and roughly $384 during a search of the home.

The suspect was identified as 54-year-old Alex Capers, Jr. He was arrested and charged with armed robbery with a deadly weapon and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.

Capers is being held at the Hill-Finklea Detention Center.
