Bicyclist killed in crash in Hollywood on Halloween

CHARLESTON COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – The Charleston County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a Halloween night collision that killed a bicyclist in Hollywood.

Deputies responded to the area of New Road and Chad Lane for a reported collision just after 7 p.m.

According to deputies, through an initial investigation, it appears the vehicle was traveling east on New Road when the driver hit an unilluminated bicyclist who was also traveling east.

The bicyclist was sent into a ditch, while the vehicle came to a controlled stop.

Officials say concerned citizens immediately attempted life-saving measures while emergency responders were en route. The bicyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Charleston County Coroner’s Office has not yet released the name of the victim.
