Detectives arrest suspect after minor injured in Waylyn Park shooting
NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C.(WCBD) – A boy is receiving treatment from a local hospital after being shot by another juvenile in North Charleston Friday.
North Charleston officers responded to a location on Olympia Avenue at Waylyn Park just before 4:30 p.m. for reports of a shooting.
They found an injured minor who was taken to a local hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound. Upon further investigation, police discovered two individuals were in an altercation before the shooting occurred.
Detectives arrested a 17-year-old in connection to the shooting. He is charged with assault and battery 1st degree, possession of a firearm by a minor, and possession of stolen property.
When the other minor is released from the hospital, officers will charge him with assault and battery 1st degree and possession of a firearm by a minor, Harve Jacobs, spokesperson for North Charleston PD said.
