Live updates: South Carolina votes in the 2024 election
It is Election Day in South Carolina, and voters around the state are heading to the polls to weigh in on pivotal contests up and down the ballot.
Voters will decide whether Vice President Kamala Harris or former President Donald Trump will become the nation’s 47th president.
Additionally, each of South Carolina’s seven U.S. House of Representatives seats is up for election.
Control of the state legislature is also up for grabs, with all 170 seats in the General Assembly —124 in the House and 46 in the Senate— on the ballot.
Some voters will also cast ballots for county sheriff, circuit solicitor, probate judge, coroner, school board, and a host of other local contests.
Polls close at 7 p.m. and results are expected to come in shortly after.
