Teen charged with making student threats in Georgetown County
GEORGETOWN COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – A 13-year-old student at Lowcountry Preparatory School has been charged with making student threats.
It comes after Georgetown County deputies discovered open-ended threats made toward students on social media.
They attempted to contact the student and his parents at their Old Plantation Drive home without success.
Sheriff Carter Weaver said deputies were at the school Friday morning when the student and his father arrived, and stopped him for questioning.
No weapons were found at the student’s home; however, charges were filed, and the student was released to a parent. He will be subject to the school’s disciplinary policy.
Officials said the school was not disrupted.
