Cougar Night Lights returns to light up College of Charleston this holiday season
CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – The College of Charleston is ready to dazzle once again this holiday season.
The eighth annual Cougar Night Lights will transform the historic Cistern Yard into a magical display of 46,490 lights choreographed to a mix of classic holiday tunes and modern hits.
This month-long celebration kicks off Monday, Dec. 2, 2024, with a special preview for College of Charleston students. The event will open to the public on Tuesday, Dec. 3, and will run nightly through Jan. 2, 2025, with shows beginning every half hour from 5:30 to 9 p.m.
“The Cougar Night Lights are our joyful gift to the College and Charleston community,” says Alicia Caudill, executive vice president for student affairs. “We love to bring everyone together in the most beautiful setting during this festive time of the year.”
The production is the work of John Reynolds, a 1997 College of Charleston graduate and Emmy Award-winning lighting designer renowned for his contributions to iconic events like the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and the Super Bowl.
The Cistern Yard, located at the corner of George and St. Philip streets, provides the perfect backdrop for this immersive holiday tradition. Visitors can find public parking nearby at the George Street Garage and St. Philip Street Garage.
Mark your calendars to experience the wonder and warmth of Cougar Night Lights—a cherished holiday tradition in Charleston.
