Rolling Stone released its Best Albums of 2024, tallying 100 of their favorite records to hit the airwaves this year.

The way people experience music has evolved over the last couple of years. Thanks to TikTok, a fun dance to the beat or lyrics of a song can cause it to go viral, reaching a new audience of listeners, thus broadening the artists’ fan base. For example, Tyla’s hit song Water rapidly climbed the charts because of its popularity on TikTok. The success of that song earned her a Grammy for the Inaugural Best African Music Performance Category.

Lots of notable names made the list, including Ice Spice’s “Y2K,” coming in at number 73, Sexyy Red’s “In Sexyy We Trust” at number 71, Shaboozey’s “Where I’ve Been, Isn’t Where I’m Going” at 55, Latto’s “Sugar Honey Ice Tea” at 46, Tems’ “Born In The Wild” at 37, Normani’s “Dopamine” at 32, GloRilla’s “Glorious” at 25, Kendrick Lamar’s newly released “GNX” at 21, and Tyler the Creator’s “Chromakopia” at 17.

Doechii began making waves in the music industry in 2020 after she released her EP, “Oh The Places You’ll Go.” But it was her single “What It Is (Block Boy)” featuring Kodak Black that earned her a spot on the Billboard Hot 100 list in 2023. She also received the Rising Star Award from Billboard’s Women in Music. Her latest album, “Alligator Bites Never Heal,” is nominated for a 2025 Grammy Award in the Best Rap category. She’s also received the Best New Artist Nomination. Between her viral TikTok hits and 2025 Grammy nominations, Doechii is going to dominate music next year.

Beyonce’s “Cowboy Carter” came in second in Rolling Stone’s Best Album of 2024, with Charlie XCX taking the number one spot. Cowboy Carter is Queen Bey’s 8th studio album and undoubtedly one of her most unique projects to date. The album is the second of a trilogy project where she exposes different sides of herself through various genres of music. The success of Renaissance dominated 2022 and 2023, and “Cowboy Carter” was met with the same enthusiasm. The album was nominated for a whopping 11 Grammys in the 2025 Grammy Awards, making it the second most nominated album in the show’s history.
