Students evacuated from Cane Bay Middle after power loss

BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – Cane Bay Middle School students were relocated Wednesday after the school experienced a power issue.

Officials with the Berkeley County School District said a back portion of the campus had a partial power loss.

Fire crews evacuated students while they checked the building, and Berkeley Electric Co-op responded to assess the power issue.

Students were taken to nearby Cane Bay Elementary School to keep them warm due to the very cold temperatures. They will be taken back to the middle school once fire officials and the electric company give school administrators the “all clear.”
