Victim identified in deadly Robert Drive house fire

BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – The victim of a deadly Ladson house fire was identified Sunday afternoon.

Dorchester County Fire Rescue entered a burning home on Robert Drive after neighbors informed fire crews that someone may be inside.

Connie Tolbert, 65, was discovered and taken outside for resuscitative efforts, according to Dorchester County Coroner Paul Brouthers. She did not recover and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Tolbert will undergo an autopsy at the Medical University of South Carolina on Tuesday morning.

The Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office, State Law Enforcement Division, and the Dorchester County Coroner’s Office are investigating.
