Crews extinguish 18-wheeler fire on interstate in Dorchester County

DORCHESTER COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – Crews in Dorchester County worked to extinguish a commercial vehicle Friday afternoon.

Dorchester County Fire-Rescue responded to the 18-wheeler fire on Interstate 95 at mile marker 74 just before noon.

Officials shut down the interstate near mile marker three while crews worked to extinguish the flames.

“Battalion 401, Engine 409, T 409, Engine 424, and DCFR volunteers were able to hold the fire to the tractor with quick hose deployment, aggressive fire attack, and efficient teamwork,” Dorchester County Fire said.

The roadway was closed for about two hours while first responders cleared the area.

The Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office and South Carolina Highway Patrol assisted with response efforts.
