Dispute over SD card led to shooting at Ridgeville home

DORCHESTER COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – A dispute over an SD card led to a Friday night shooting at a Ridgeville home.

Deputies with the Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call regarding a man firing a weapon inside a residence on Givhans Road.

A victim told deputies that the suspect, Barney Miles Wimberly, loaded a bolt-action rifle and shot at him following a dispute over an SD card.

Deputies made several announcements for Wimberly to exit the residence. At one point, he appeared at the front door, unarmed, and was taken into custody.

Wimberly was arrested and charged with one count of attempted murder and one count of possession of a weapon during a violent crime.

He is being held at the L.C. Knight Detention Center.

An SD card, or Secure Digital card, is a memory card that stores and transfers data digitally.
