Parking lot at Union Pier Terminal will be used for permitted food and beverage workers

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – A parking lot owned by the South Carolina Ports Authority will soon be made available for Charleston’s food and beverage workers.

Charleston city leaders discussed a licensing agreement with the SC Ports during Tuesday’s traffic and transportation meeting and approved moving forward with the project.

SC Ports agreed to license the parking lot, “Lot B,” to the city at no charge; however, the city would be responsible for maintenance including lighting, fencing, and surfacing.

It will provide roughly 70 dedicated parking spaces for permitted hospitality workers on a first-come, first-served basis.

Lot B is located near the Fleet Landing restaurant and is adjacent to the former cruise passenger facility at Union Pier Terminal off Concord Street.

City officials told News 2 they are working out some details and hope to have it open to workers in a few weeks.
