Authorities searching near Goose Creek Reservoir Dam after report of body in water

GOOSE CREEK, S.C. (WCBD)—Law enforcement in Berkeley County is searching a local waterway after receiving reports of a possible body in the water.

The Hanahan Police Department received the report around 5 p.m. saying there was a possible body in the Goose Creek near Bowen Village neighborhood.

Hanahan officers and detectives are actively searching the waterway with the help of the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office’s marine unit, according to Hanahan Police Chief Rick Gebhardt.

As of 8:43 p.m., a body has not been found, Chief Gebhardt said. An active search and investigation is ongoing.
