Dorchester County deputies looking for man wanted in New York State double homicide

DORCHESTER COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – Authorities in Dorchester County are searching for a man wanted in a New York State double homicide case.

Deputies with the Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle on Short Cut Road around 2 p.m. Saturday.

During an investigation, deputies confirmed the abandoned vehicle was connected to Scott C. Mitchell, a suspect wanted by the Binghamton, New York Police Department concerning a double homicide that occurred Feb. 3.

“The Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office has taken custody of a 2011 gray Chevrolet Impala, which is linked to Scott C. Mitchell, a suspect wanted by the City of Binghamton, New York Police Department for two counts of second-degree homicide. We are currently in the process of obtaining search warrants for the vehicle,” said Steven Wright, public information officer for the Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office.

Mitchell is considered armed and dangerous. People are urged to call 911 if they see him.
