Warming centers opening amid freezing temperatures
CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – Warming centers are opening this week due to expected freezing temperatures in the Lowcountry.
If you are without housing or adequate heat, warming centers will be available at the following:
Seacoast Church Summerville – 301 E. 5th N. St.
- Open on Wednesday from 9 p.m. – 7 a.m. and Thursday from 7 p.m. – 7 a.m.
- Cots will be available, showers, dinner, and a takeaway breakfast.
- For transportation – Text “TRANSPORT” to 320320 or call 843-486-0193.
- Officials ask guests to enter through the back door facing Gum St.
Holy City Missions at Aldersgate – 1444 Remount Rd in North Charleston
- Open on Wednesday and Thursday from 7 p.m. – 7 a.m.
- Serves a hot meal, breakfast, bag lunch, showers, and clothing.
- For transportation – Use CARTA bus route 13, request Aldersgate Winter Warming Shelter.
Hibben Hospitality – 690 Coleman Blvd in Mt. Pleasant
- Open on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday from 7 p.m. until 7 a.m. the next morning.
- Serves an evening meal and breakfast, showers, and clothing may also be available.
- For transportation – Hibben will pick up guests at 68 Columbus Street at 6:45 p.m. CARTA will transport guests downtown the next morning.
