Former Georgetown County deputy accused of engaging in sexual activity in patrol car while on duty
GEORGETOWN COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) — A Georgetown County deputy was fired Friday after being accused of engaging in sexual activity in his patrol while on duty last year.
Cody Christopher Bailey, 27, was arrested and charged with misconduct in office, according to the Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office.
According to a provided warrant, Bailey was patrolling in the Murrells Inlet area in May 2024 when he allegedly engaged in sexual activity in his official vehicle with a woman he met on an adult website.
“The defendant failed a duty of good faith, due diligence and integrity owed the public” by committing the act, the warrant states.
Bailey had been with the sheriff’s office for five years.
He is currently being held at the Georgetown County Detention Center.
