Driver dead after losing control of van on Savannah Highway, hitting tree in early morning crash
CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – A driver is dead following an early Saturday morning crash on Savannah Highway.
Officers with the Charleston Police Department responded to the crash near Bonanza Road around 4:50 a.m.
A Toyota van was heading south on Savannah Highway when the driver appeared to have lost control, veered off the roadway, and hit a tree.
“The driver, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was pronounced deceased at the scene,” police said. “Savannah Highway was closed for several hours while investigators processed the scene.”
The crash is under investigation.
