GED Section: Why Is America Being Led By Failed Businessmen?

D.L. Hughley chose a strong choice of words to start off his report for the “GED Section,” and it probably comes as no surprise that his target is none other than Donald Trump.
The latest critique isn’t in reference to one issue specifically, rather a series of unfortunate events that’ve been felt ever since Trump’s second presidential takeover on January 20, 2025. See below for a shortlist of just a few nationwide downfalls we’ve all witnessed so far:

In response to a country seemingly in the hands of disaster, The D.L. Hughley Show just had one question to ask: “What did you think would happen when you put a failed businessman as head of the largest economy in the world?”
It’s true; Trump has put his name on an almost countless amount of failed businesses, including the airline Trump Shuttle (1989 – 1992), a natural spring water company called Trump Ice (1995 – 2010), a venture into meats branded as Trump Steaks (May 2007 – July 2007), the Donald J. Trump Signature Collection of ties and apparel at Macy’s (2004 – 2015) and a line of casinos under Trump Entertainment Resorts (1995 – 2016), just to name a few. That’s not even mentioning the appointing of Elon Musk as head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), or putting any kind of power in the hands of far-right politician Marjorie Taylor Greene. “The best indicator of what someone will do is what they have done,” D.L. said with all seriousness, going on to add, “[Trump] has been bankrupt six times; Elon Musk has bee sued for discrimination and the like dozens of times. Robert F. Kennedy, who’s now in charge, has shown you who he is. Now we got measles, eggs are up, planes are down — financial papers are saying we’re on the brink of a self-induced recession. What did you think would happen?!”
