Weather alert: Risk of damaging winds, isolated tornadoes
CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) -Storm Team 2 has issued a weather alert for South Carolina on Wednesday due to the threat of damaging wind gusts exceeding 60 mph.
The National Weather Service reports a risk of severe thunderstorms moving across the Lowcountry from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Storm Team 2 says the greatest threat to the Lowcountry is damaging winds, with a small threat of isolated tornadoes.
Several school districts in the Lowcountry have adjusted class schedules on Wednesday due to the threat of severe weather.

“That strong main line really gets here by 10 or 11 [a.m.],” said Grace Lowe. Inside the squall line, some areas can see pockets of damaging wind gusts. The storm is fast moving and is expected to leave the Charleston Metro by 1 p.m.
“This isn’t going to be an all day issue, this is going to be something we’re watching just for the first half of our morning hours – really as we get a bit closer to midday,” Lowe added.
The National Weather Service urges residents to take precautions, such as bringing loose outdoor items inside, watching for downed trees and powerlines, and being sure to have multiple ways to receive warnings.
