Prescribed burn planned for Lauren Hill County Park
MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCBD) – Some residents in Mount Pleasant may see an increase in smoke Wednesday afternoon. It’s due to a prescribed burn at Laurel Hill County Park.
The Charleston County Park and Recreation Commission’s planned burn is expected to begin around 10 a.m. and should wrap up by 1 p.m. or 2 p.m., according to Mount Pleasant town officials.
Environmental consultants Sabine & Waters will conduct the burn. Officials say smoke will be monitored to minimize impacts on US-41.
Signs notifying drivers and residents about the planned burn will be placed along the roadway.
If you see or smell the smoke, town officials say there is no need for concern. The controlled burn is meant to help maintain a healthy ecosystem.
