Good news folks, we’re getting more Snowfall

Deadline exclusively reports that FX has requested a pilot order for a yet-to-be-titled Snowfall spinoff. The show will star Gail Bean and Isaiah John, reprising their roles as Wanda and Leon Simmons.

The website was the first to report that the Snowfall spinoff was greenlit in 2023. It will be a direct continuation of the late John Singleton’s popular television drama series starring Damson Idris, which ended in 2023.

Snowfall’s premise focuses on how an off-the-books CIA operation introduced crack cocaine, which led to the destruction of the once vibrant community of South Central L.A.

The spinoff will highlight the influence of the “gangster rap” businesses, showcasing areas populated by the Bloods and Crips gangs.

Per Deadline:

As previously revealed, the spinoff is a continuation of the original story set in 1990s Los Angeles as South Central transitions out of the crack era into the gangster rap business, with areas heavily infested by gangs led by the Bloods and Crips. Wanda would serve as the connective tissue between the original show and the offshoot, which is expected to introduce other main characters.

Besides Wanda and Leon from the original series, it is unknown if any other surviving character could appear in the new project. Casting is due to begin shortly, with the pilot going into production this summer.

Dave Andron, Thomas Schlamme, Julie DeJoie, Michael London, and Trevor Engelson, who were executive producers on Snowfall, will return for the spinoff with Malcolm Spellman handling writing.

There is no word on whether any other OGs from the original Snowfall cast will be joining Bean and John in this show.

Fans Are Hoping For The Return of Franklin Saint

The news of the spinoff is spawning interesting reactions on X, formerly Twitter, mainly calling for the return of Idris’ character, Franklin Saint.

“Bring back the saint.” one post on X read.

Another post read, “B***h i want Franklin Saint tf.”

Regardless of the adverse reactions, we are sure people will be seated when the show premieres on FX. Until that day arrives, you can see more reactions in the gallery below.
