‘Mutual agreement’: Retired DDTwo superintendent receiving year’s salary as part of exit settlement
DORCHESTER COUNTY, S.C. – Dorchester School District Two has released new details about former superintendent Dr. Shane Robbins’s early retirement.
Dr. Robbins left his post following a March 10 meeting, at which the DDTwo Board of Trustees voted to release him from his contract, allowing him to retire early.
According to documents provided by the school district, the separation was a ‘mutual agreement’, and upon his exit, Dr. Robbins received one year’s salary, which equals $227,485, and payment for any unused leave.
“The Board determined it was in the best interests of the district to go in a different direction to better meet its vision and leadership expectations within the district. The board appreciates Dr. Robbins’ contributions in strengthening the safety and security of our schools,” said DDTwo Board Chair Ashley Wimberly. “We want to be clear that this mutual agreement was a professional decision made in the best interests of the district.”
Dr. Robbins had served in the position since 2022. In a letter to the board, Dr. Robbins said that although the timing was not “optimal,” members should have time to find the next superintendent.
Former Deputy Superintendent Chad Daugherty was appointed as interim superintendent until a permanent replacement can be named.
