Coroner identifies human remains found near Lee Street home

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – Human remains found in a downtown Charleston neighborhood earlier this month have been identified.

The remains of 67-year-old E. Lee Stover were found behind a home at 66 ½ Lee Street on March 4.

Charleston County Coroner Bobbi Jo O’Neal said an examination of the remains determined that Stover suffered some type of trauma. Coroner O’Neal said the death is being investigated as a homicide.

No other details were provided by the coroner’s office.

The Charleston Police Department is seeking any information from the public regarding Stover’s death as the investigation continues.
