1 in custody after attempted burglary in Grand Oaks subdivision

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – Authorities are investigating a Thursday morning attempted burglary in a West Ashley neighborhood.

Officials say the suspect broke into a home in the Grand Oaks subdivision, and the residents held the suspect at bay with a firearm until police arrived and took the person into custody.

Police said the suspect is hospitalized, but they did not elaborate.

No other details were provided. The Charleston Police Department is expected to release additional information about the incident.
