Summerville man accused of human trafficking following prostitution investigation

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – An investigation into prostitution in the West Ashley area landed a 33-year-old man behind bars on human trafficking charges.

Detectives with the Charleston Police Department launched an investigation on April 9 and identified an individual as a victim of human trafficking.

The investigation found that Johnathan Ahmad Dais, 33, of Summerville, exploited and coerced the victim into prostitution for financial gain.

According to the police department, the victim reported that Dais had previously strangled and punched them “so severely that they feared for their life.”

Dais was arrested and charged with assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature, trafficking in persons – 1st offense and prostitution second offense.

He is being held at the Al Cannon Detention Center.
