Fawn Weaver Unfiltered: What Fuels the Woman Behind the Whiskey

Before she became the force behind the most awarded American whiskey in history, Fawn Weaver was a woman quietly building empires on her own terms. Author. Investor. Hotelier. Marriage advocate. Serial entrepreneur. In every chapter of her life, one thing remained constant… Her unwavering belief in purpose over popularity.

Now, as the founder and CEO of Uncle Nearest, she’s known worldwide. But, when you strip away the headlines and accolades, what really drives Mrs. Weaver? This Black Women’s History Month, we delve deeper to meet the woman behind the success.
She Doesn’t Wait for Permission
Fawn never needed an industry stamp of approval to get started. Long before whiskey, she was already blazing her own trail. In her 20s, she held executive roles in public relations, hospitality and, entertainment. By 30, she had launched her own real estate investment firm. And in 2012, her bestselling book, Happy Wives Club, landed on the New York Times list after she self-published it.
Every pivot in her career has been guided by intuition and bold action, not external validation. She once noted:
“I was wired to be able to execute at the highest of levels under the most intense challenges. I consider it a great honor that God made me this way as I don’t know of many others like me.”
Her career didn’t happen in neat steps. It was built from leaps.
Discipline Is Her Superpower
Don’t let the laid-back charisma trip you. Fawn is a machine when it comes to routine and accountability. She wakes up early, journals daily, and protects her mental and spiritual space like her business depends on it. Because it does.
“Success happens when purpose meets God’s timing.”
She Leads With Conviction, Not Ego
Fawn is quick to deflect credit and quicker to give it. She’s built a powerhouse team at Uncle Nearest made up mostly of women and people of color. Not to fill a quota, but because she believes in creating the kind of company culture she never saw coming up.
She also doesn’t hide behind the boardroom. You’ll find her on the distillery floor, greeting visitors, talking to team members, and still very much involved in the day-to-day operations. As she puts it:
“Every man in my company reports into a woman. And they’ll tell you it’s the most refreshing structure they’ve ever been a part of, and they love it.”
Faith Grounds Everything
Fawn often credits her faith as the foundation of every major decision. Whether it’s walking away from a big opportunity or investing millions of her own dollars into preserving Nearest Green’s legacy, she moves with a deep sense of spiritual alignment. She’s spoken openly about prayer, discernment, and trusting divine timing, especially when the odds seem stacked against her.
She Measures Success Differently
For Fawn, the win isn’t just the revenue or the awards (though there are plenty, ha). It’s about what she’s building for the long term: generational impact, historical correction, and cultural pride.
She launched the Nearest Green Foundation to offer full scholarships to Nearest Green’s descendants. She built a distillery that’s not just about production, but storytelling. And she continues to invest in other Black entrepreneurs through investments and mentorship.
Her bar for success is simple but radical:
“Build this brand so big the next generation can’t screw it up.”
Fawn Weaver’s story is still unfolding, but what’s clear is this, she’s not just making history. She’s walking in purpose, moving with clarity, and showing the world that Black women don’t just belong at the table… we build the table, own the building, and rewrite the blueprint.
