Coroner identifies motorcyclist killed after Charleston U-Haul crash

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – The Charleston County Coroner’s Office has identified the woman killed after being struck by a U-Haul truck on Meeting Street Saturday.

42-year-old Shinique Toussaint-Allah from Charleston died on the scene from blunt force injuries sustained in the collision, Coroner Bobbi Jo O’Neal said.

Toussaint-Allah was a passenger on the motorcycle.

Seven other people were left injured from the collision, including the motorcycle driver.

Shortly before 5 p.m. on Saturday, officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the U-Haul truck at the intersection of Dorchester and Meeting Street Roads, according to the North Charleston Police Department.

The truck driver, identified as Brown, refused to stop and fled to downtown Charleston. The pursuit was discontinued at the intersection of Columbus and King Street, but Brown kept going.

She ultimately crashed on Meeting St. near Reid St., hitting two pedestrians and a Mercedes, which collided with the motorcycle. The motorcycle then ran into a Chevrolet Tahoe.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating this crash.
