Berlin G. Myers Parkway extension opens to drivers a year ahead of schedule

SUMMERVILLE, S.C. (WCBD) – The new Berlin G. Myers Parkway extension is officially open.

The South Carolina Department of Transportation and area leaders held a ribbon-cutting ceremony last week to celebrate the project’s completion, which finished more than a year ahead of schedule.

It is designed to improve safety, alleviate congestion, and improve the flow of traffic in the area.

Construction included roughly 3.25 miles of roadway between US Highway 17-A and East Carolina Avenue, and changes along Sawmill Branch to help reduce the potential for flood-related impacts, and upgrades or changes to the Sawmill Branch Walk/Bike Trail.
