Deadline approaching for South Carolinians to file their tax returns
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WCBD) – Are you still waiting to file your tax returns?
Tax Day for most states was April 15; however, South Carolina and eight other states received an automatic extension due to FEMA disaster declarations in 2024, according to the IRS.
South Carolinians have until Thursday, May 1, to file and make tax payments. Specifically, this was due to Hurricane Helene and its impact on the state last year.
The deadline for 2025 estimated payments, originally due April 15, was also extended.
If you do not think you will be ready to file by May 1, you should consider requesting an extension. For tax filing tips from the South Carolina Department of Revenue, click here.
