Sunday morning crash on I-526 leaves 1 dead, police say

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – A driver was killed in an early Sunday morning crash on I-526, according to police.

Officers with the North Charleston Police Department responded to the westbound lanes of the interstate between Leeds Avenue and the Westmoreland Bridge around 1:30 a.m.

The crash involved a vehicle and a tow truck.

Police officials said the female driver of the vehicle died at the scene.

The crash is under investigation.
