Ravenel residents took a ‘joy ride’ against proposed rezoning

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – The residents of Ravenel organized a protest on Saturday morning to stand against the proposed rezoning of their community.

As a community, the Ravenel residents drove through the proposed area of development starting at 9:45 a.m. and drove in a loop for around 30 minutes.

“We are going on a joy ride through the proposed area to show just a glimpse of the congestion this will create and to let our town know where we stand,” said Ravenel resident, Liz Moore.

The protest began at the Food Lion located at the Ravenel Towne Centre.

The video shows a line of cars driving through a two-lane street with signs opposing the rezoning of Ravenel. Some signs also advocate for locals to come to the town hall meeting on Jan. 30 where the rezoning will be discussed.
