What’s happening Saturday at Southeastern Wildlife Exposition

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – Saturday marks the second full day of activities at the Southeastern Wildlife Exposition, and the festivities are in full gear.

The Southeastern Wildlife Exposition (SEWE) is an annual festival that promotes wildlife, art, and nature conservation throughout downtown Charleston.

Ladies can start their Saturday off at Trinity Hall for a Birds of a Feather ladies brunch benefit. This event features a three-course lunch and a premiere bar.

Brittlebank Park is housing one of the most anticipated events of SEWE, the Dock Dog competition starting at 10 a.m. See dogs of all kinds and skill levels compete in various water jumping competitions. Competitions last throughout the weekend and finals will take place Sunday afternoon.

SEWE FORECAST: SATURDAY

Also in Brittlebank Park, demonstrations are sure to catch attendees’ attention. The sheep and duck herding demos will start at 10:30 a.m. and last until 11:30 a.m. View dogs herd sheep and ducks through various obstacles with few verbal commands from their owners.

Later that day, Orvis will be in Brittlebank Park hosting fly fishing casting lessons from 12:30 – 1 p.m. “Try your hand at angling or improve upon your skills with the fly fishing professionals on-site,” said event organizers.

Do you like birds? Some say the birds of prey flight demo is the most educational and entertaining show during SEWE. Head over to Marion Square from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. to watch flight demos from various birds of prey including falcons, eagles, owls, hawks and vultures. Learn the importance of their roles in our ecosystem!

The Purina Pro Plan performance team, a collection of the world’s most athletic dogs, will perform amazing flying disc routines at Marion Square from 1 – 2 p.m.

Throughout the day, Marion Square will host a variety of chef demos where South Carolina’s most talented chefs will team up with their favorite farmers and create delicious dishes. This is the station for food lovers!

Once the sun goes down, head over to the Omar Shrine Temple in Mount Pleasant for live music, silent auctions, raffles, and fresh, hot oysters. Tickets are required for this special event.
