Man rescued from sailboat near Winyah Bay
GEORGETOWN COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – A man was rescued from his sailboat off the Georgetown County coast over the weekend.
A helicopter from United States Coast Guard Air Station Savannah responded to a call regarding a 41-foot sailboat that had run aground near the entrance to Winyah Bay early Sunday morning.
Officials say the helicopter crew landed on a nearby beach. The man was then helped into the helicopter, and he was taken to Georgetown County Airport.
Coast Guard officials did not say if there were any injuries.
