No victims found after Colleton County deputies discover 100 shell casings, flipped car shortly after pair of drive-by shootings

COLLETON COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – Roughly 100 spent shell casings were found near the site of a single-vehicle crash in Colleton County on Monday – but no victims were found nor any responsible party.

Deputies with the Colleton County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) and crews from Colleton County Fire Rescue were dispatched to Fritter Road and Hendersonville Highway after receiving separate reports of gunshots and a collision.

Law enforcement arrived to find a vehicle on its roof in nearby woods. The vehicle was unoccupied and there were no patients located at the scene, according to the sheriff’s office.

About 100 shell casings were located at the intersection near the crash scene and authorities say the overturned vehicle had several bullet holes in the doors.

Detectives who processed the scene determined that the vehicle had been reported stolen through the North Charleston Police Department. They also noted that two firearms were recovered from the car.

Capt. J.W. Chapman with CCSO said the incident was reported shortly after a pair of drive-by shootings occurred in the same area. “At this time, no injuries have been reported,” said Capt. Chapman.

Law enforcement says these incidents are believed to be connected and remain under investigation. They ask anyone who may have information to call detectives at 843-549-2211.
