Bicyclist killed in crash near Georgetown

GEORGETOWN COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – A bicyclist was killed after being struck by a vehicle Sunday morning.

Master Trooper Brandon Bolt with the South Carolina Highway Patrol (SCHP) said the crash happened on SC Highway 51, about eight miles north of Georgetown, shortly after 10:00 a.m.

Trooper Bolt said a 2004 Toyota sedan and the bicyclist were headed north on SC 51 when the bicyclist was struck from behind.

The driver of the Toyota, who was the only occupant, was not injured. The bicyclist was killed. That individual has not yet been identified.

The crash remains under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
