CARTA driver honored by City of Charleston for longtime service
CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) — On Monday, city and transportation officials honored a public transit driver for his longtime service to the Charleston community.
Charles Frasier, A.K.A. “King of Route 20,” is a Charleston native who was honored by the Charleston Area Regional Transportation Authority (CARTA) for over 50 years of service. Over his career, Mr. Frasier has driven more than 4 million miles.
Officials presented Frasier with a plaque that will be installed at stop 461 in front of the Charleston Visitor Center on Meeting Street and a proclamation in his honor.
“First of all, I’d like to say I thank the Lord for it because I was about 23, 24 years old when I started, and 50 years went by so fast,” Frasier said. “Because when you enjoy people when you love people, you never know how far you can go, and I deeply appreciate that. All I can say is I am truly grateful; this is truly a surprise to me!”
Some local leaders who attended the proclamation for Mr. Frasier include Charleston Mayor William Cogswell and CARTA Chairman Mike Seekings.
Congrats, Mr. Frasier, and thank you!
