2 killed in Sunday morning crash on I-95, SCHP says
COLLETON COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – A driver and passenger were killed in a Sunday morning crash along I-95 in Colleton County.
Lance Cpl. Lena Butler with the South Carolina Highway Patrol (SCHP) said the collision happened around 9:41 a.m. near mile marker 54, about a mile north of Walterboro.
A 2017 Chrysler Pacifica and a 2023 Chevrolet Malibu were traveling north on the interstate when the two collided. Trooper Butler said the Chevrolet then ran off the right side of the roadway, struck a ditch, overturned, and then hit a tree.
The driver and a passenger died at the scene. Trooper Butler said a driver and passenger in the Chrysler were not injured.
The crash remains under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
