Human remains found at Berkeley County coal yard
BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – An investigation is underway Sunday following the discovery of skeletal remains in a coal yard.
Remains were recovered from the Santee Cooper Cross Generations Station Coal Yard, according to the Berkeley County Coroner’s Office.
They were determined to be human. An autopsy is scheduled for Thursday.
Multiple agency’s responded to the Pineville power station after receiving a 911 call around 3:15 p.m.
“DNA will also be utilized to help determined the identity of the remains,” said Berkeley County Coroner Darnell Hartwell in a news release.
The Berkeley County Coroner’s Office and the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office are investigating.
