Man who sexually abused minor given 30 years in prison: solicitor
MONCKS CORNER, S.C. (WCBD) – A man was sentenced to 30 years in prison on charges connected to the sexual abuse of a juvenile.
Evan Michael Rosenberg, of Berkeley County, pleaded guilty to first-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor and disseminating obscene material to a minor, according to Ninth Circuit Solicitor Scarlett Wilson.
Officials with the solicitor’s office said Rosenberg sexually abused a minor continuously before she reported the abuse to her mother, who immediately stopped all contact between the two. He also sent the victim explicit pornography and showed her sexually graphic videos in person.
“Too often, we see parents who don’t support their children when they muster the courage to reveal their abusers. Thank goodness the victim’s mother did the right thing in this case. Without her support, the victim would still be at risk and we likely could not have proven this case,” said Solicitor Wilson in a statement Tuesday afternoon.
The 10-year-old victim was expected to testify at Rosenberg’s upcoming trial, had he not entered a guilty plea.
Judge Deadra L. Jefferson sentenced Rosenberg to 30 years in prison on the criminal sexual conduct charge and 15 on the dissemination charge. Both sentences will run concurrently.
