Tree falls on house, trapping resident inside

HANAHAN, S.C. (WCBD) – The Hanahan Fire Department responded to a collapsed structure, involving a tree falling onto a residence trapping the occupant inside.

Firefighters were dispatched to the 5900 block of Sellers Rd. Officials say upon arrival, crews located an occupant trapped in the rear bedroom.

According to authorities, crews used rescue tools to breach and tunnel their way to the trapped occupant, successfully extricating them.

The resident was handed over to Berkeley County EMS for medical attention.

After the rescue, the Hanahan Buildings & Codes Office deemed the structure unsafe.
